I don't see any problem allowing cycle cross bikes in AR races. I'm more concern about having a race track where you can actually go with this kind of bike. I see AR as and off road MTB race + other disciplines where you need suspensions.
On the other hand having anther type of bike will make this sport even more expensive and getting critical mass of racers even harder.
